Stand close to a cliff face at Rinsey, and you begin to see it differently. What looks from a distance like a solid wall of rock reveals itself up close as a jigsaw of ancient forms fractured, compressed, layered over millennia into something endlessly complex and beautiful.

This painting maps that complexity without reproducing it. Bold black lines divide the canvas like fault lines in stone, separating sections of teal, slate, warm sand and deep navy, each with its own texture, its own surface, its own quiet story. Small flashes of orange punctuate the composition like minerals caught in light — unexpected, vital, impossible to ignore.

A large pale form floats in the upper right — a pebble, a pool — holding the whole composition in a moment of stillness amid the structural energy around it.

This is a painting about the architecture of the natural world. About the way rock holds time. About finding extraordinary complexity in a place most people walk straight past.
