Rachel lives surrounded by plants. Her family has grown and sold them in Cornwall for years, and her own gardens are never far from her studio door. This painting pulls you right into the heart of a tangled garden border, where everything grows together.

Rusty copper leaves traced in fine white lines rise up through the centre. On the right, a coral tree glows, spotted with white like blossom, while on the left, frothy white flower heads tumble over sharp blades of lime green. Deep plums, dusky pinks and inky blacks weave through it all. Rachel builds her paintings in layers, combining acrylic paint with papers she has printed herself, so every part of the surface is full of pattern and texture, with something new to discover each time you look.

It's rich, joyful and full of life. Its long, panoramic shape makes it perfect above a fireplace, a sideboard or a bed, or along a hallway. It's on a shallow canvas and would look beautiful framed.
