Acrylic on board · 50 x 50cm including frame · framed in white wood
This little painting is a love letter to a favourite walk. Rachel often takes her dog through Godolphin Woods, close to her home in Cornwall. After a long, wet winter, she came round a bend one day to find the banks covered in spring flowers. Inspired, she let the painting celebrate how full and flowering that bank was.
That joyful moment is what she's captured here. A dark, winding stream leads your eye into the woods, and on either side it's edged with a froth of blossom: soft lilac, rose pink, cream and little flecks of red. Above, a tree reaches its branches across the scene, its leaves in cool sea-greens and teal, with pale light glimmering through.
It has the hushed, dreamy feeling of the woods on a spring morning, when everything is fresh and damp and just beginning to bloom. Small but full of atmosphere, it's framed in white wood and ready to hang. It would be lovely in a bedroom, a snug, a hallway, or anywhere you want a quiet moment.
One of Rachel's garden series. Look out for its companions, Woodland Cottage with Apple Tree and Veiled Garden.
Materials + Care
For original paintings: painted on canvas or board using acrylic, resin or mixed media. Hang away from direct sunlight and damp. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not clean with water or solvents. For canvas prints: printed on a poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, scratch, crack and warp resistant. Wipe gently with a barely damp cloth if needed. For paper prints: printed on premium fine art paper. Handle with care — avoid moisture and direct sunlight to preserve colours.
