Every painting has a story, and this one begins with a rude awakening. On a family holiday at a farm in Wales, Rachel was woken early, morning after morning, by a very loud voice outside. So one day she went out to find the culprit, and there he was: the proudest cockerel you've ever seen, standing in the early sun with every feather lit up.
She had to paint him. Thick, lively strokes of oil capture that moment: the flaming red comb, a chest of gold and burnt orange, and a great sweep of tail feathers in inky blue and teal, flicked with white where the light catches. He stands in bright green grass against a soft, breezy turquoise sky, and he looks every bit as pleased with himself as he did that morning.
He's bright, bold and full of character, and he's guaranteed to make you smile. He'd be perfect in a farmhouse kitchen, a breakfast room, or anywhere that deserves a cheerful good morning.
Materials + Care
For original paintings: painted on canvas or board using acrylic, resin or mixed media. Hang away from direct sunlight and damp. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not clean with water or solvents. For canvas prints: printed on a poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, scratch, crack and warp resistant. Wipe gently with a barely damp cloth if needed. For paper prints: printed on premium fine art paper. Handle with care — avoid moisture and direct sunlight to preserve colours.
Shipping + Returns
UK delivery is free on original paintings up to 100cm. Larger or heavier works are delivered by specialist art courier for £75. Dispatched within 7 working days, carefully packed in my Cornwall studio, fully insured and tracked. Original paintings can be returned within 14 days of receiving them. Prints are made to order and cannot be returned.
