Original hand-printed lino cut with collage, on paper · 58 x 45cm including frame · framed
Inspired by Rachel's yoga practice, this piece is loosely based on the seated twist marichyasana: a pose of stillness and quiet strength. The figure is simplified into a few confident lines and shapes, then built up with collage, so the surface has a lovely handmade, layered feel, here in red with bold black.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind work, not a reproduction. Rachel hand-printed each figure from a lino block, then finished it with collage, so no two in the series are the same.
It's one of a small series of seated figures. They look beautiful on their own, and even better hung together as a pair or a group, perfect for a bedroom, a calm study or a yoga or wellbeing space.
Materials + Care
For original paintings: painted on canvas or board using acrylic, resin or mixed media. Hang away from direct sunlight and damp. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not clean with water or solvents. For canvas prints: printed on a poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, scratch, crack and warp resistant. Wipe gently with a barely damp cloth if needed. For paper prints: printed on premium fine art paper. Handle with care — avoid moisture and direct sunlight to preserve colours.
