Mixed techniques on board · 115 x 155cm
This painting has real drama. Rachel was inspired by her travels through New Zealand, and by the thrill of walking through dense, green forest. What caught her eye was the contrast: tall birch trunks, starkly black and white, standing like a screen in front of a deep, glowing world of green.
Look through the trunks into the impenetrable forest, where flecks of light shimmer. Rachel has built the background with a mix of techniques, so the greens, limes and warm golds break up into a lacy, cell-like texture, like moss, lichen or sunlight on wet leaves.
It's graphic and bold, yet full of life. At over a metre and a half tall, it's a true statement piece. It's the kind of painting that can anchor a whole room, perfect for a high-ceilinged living space, a stairwell, or a modern open-plan home.
Please avoid hanging it anywhere that gets very hot, as resin can lift from the surface in extreme heat.
Materials + Care
For original paintings: painted on canvas or board using acrylic, resin or mixed media. Hang away from direct sunlight and damp. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Do not clean with water or solvents. For canvas prints: printed on a poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish, scratch, crack and warp resistant. Wipe gently with a barely damp cloth if needed. For paper prints: printed on premium fine art paper. Handle with care — avoid moisture and direct sunlight to preserve colours.
